Description
The DX1 is much more than an exceptional DAC capable of handling 24 bit 192 kHz PCM signals (USB-B) and DSD 2.8, 5.6 and 11.2, thanks to its settings, it becomes a preamplifier/DAC and an amplifier performance helmet.
The DX1 is one of the components of the Smart series, it is available in white or black finish, of great beauty, thanks to the methacrylate front and the very studied ergonomics. A power on/standby push button and a rotary encoder are enough to control everything! The first command, surrounded by a red ring, on standby, which turns white when the DAC is operational. The rotary encoder is surrounded by a white LED. This single command acts on the selection of the numerous digital inputs: six S/PDIF optical and three coaxial including one BNC, one AES on XLR, two USB, one A for connection with an Apple device such as iPhone, iPod, iPad or other “Made for iPod", a B (for computer connection) and even Bluetooth APTX via our optional X-FTB01 "pure digital", plug-in, high performance adapter.
The menu offers the possibility of using the DX1 purely as a DAC with a direct fixed output level or to activate the variable volume and then use the DX1 as a Preamplifier/DAC. This rotary encoder allows access to a volume control of the stereo line outputs (in Cinch, but also balanced on XLR sockets), as well as for the adjustment of the headphone outputs, two in number and on jack 3,5 connectors, 1mm. The DXXNUMX complies with the energy saving standards currently in force, but also offers the option of disengaging the APD (Automatic Power Down) function which activates, by default, the DAC standby after about thirty minutes. without incoming modulation. Each action on the parameters causes it to be viewed on the display screen. We can not do better in ergonomics!
The DX1 also accepts DSD, from 64 (2,8 MHz) to DSD256 (11,2 MHz)!
The internal architecture uses the latest generation components for power supply regulations and the famous AKM 4490 for conversion. Premium converter, this DAC incorporates the Velvet Sound concept. The Velvet Sound concept consists in optimizing the sound quality from purely technical measurements combined with listening tests. The synchronization is carried out by a very modern and precise circuit, instead of a quartz crystal, now obsolete.
The result is worthy of the demanding audiophile, robust and sustained bass, midrange giving the voices a high-level presence and clarity, and finally, precise and balanced treble that commands admiration. Dynamics, transparency and spatialization are also present.
At the price offered, our DX1 now stands out as a benchmark.
